Activities include:
Fellwalking: We're a quick drive from some of the finest fells in the National Park - Helvelyn (3117 ft), Blencathra (2848 ft) and Skiddaw (3054 ft). Easier climbs include Mell Fell (1762 ft) with it's 360 degree view from the top, plus beautiful lakeside walks along Ullswater (from Pooley Bridge and Glenridding) and Derwentwater (from Keswick or take the steamer to the far side of the lake). Biking: We're just off the C2C Sustrans route and have easy access to exciting mountain biking routes. Entertainment: In Keswick there's an excellent theatre (Theatre by the Lake) and cinemas at Penrith, Carlisle, Keswick, Ambleside and Rheged. Penrith has a modern Leisure Centre with swimming pool and gym and there's a wave pool at Keswick. Visit Dove Cottage (Wordsworth's house), Hilltop Farm (Beatrix Potter's house) and a variety of castles, galleries, museums and gardens. Hadrian's Wall Explore this amazing heritage site left by the Romans nearly 2000 years ago. Cars of the Stars Motor Museum See the Cars of James Bond among others. Rookin House Farm Equestrian centre with activities including Quad Biking and Clay-pigeon shooting. Dove Cottage and Wordsworth House Learn about the poet in this award winning museum. Beatrix Potter A centre devoted to the stories of Beatrix Potter. South Lakes Wild Animal Park Cumbria’s 1998 Winner of the Environmental Award for Excellence. Jennings Brewery Jennings Castle Brewery is the home of traditional brewing. |
